Relationship counseling for the conversation you keep avoiding.

Structured, research-informed couples therapy to break unhelpful cycles and rebuild closeness.

Two olive branches reaching toward each other at sunset — couples counseling

Most couples don't show up because they fight too much. They show up because the same fight keeps happening and nothing changes. We help you name the cycle, slow it down, and build the skills that turn a hard conversation into a productive one.

What treatment looks like

Sessions are joint and structured. You'll leave with shared language for what's happening between you and small, specific experiments to try at home. We draw from evidence-based approaches (Gottman-informed, EFT-informed) and tailor the work to your relationship — including non-traditional, LGBTQ+, and blended-family configurations.

Couples work is not appropriate during active intimate-partner violence. If you're not safe, please contact the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-800-799-7233 before scheduling.

Telehealth FAQ

Answers to the most common questions about meeting for couples counseling by secure video — consent, privacy, and what an actual session looks like.

Is the video platform actually private and HIPAA-compliant?

We use a HIPAA-compliant video platform under a signed Business Associate Agreement (BAA). Sessions are encrypted end-to-end in transit, are not recorded, and are not used to train any AI model. The video link itself is one-time and tied only to your visit — never embedded in calendar invites, never sent by SMS or social media.

Do I have to be in Ohio for a telehealth visit?

Yes. Ohio licensure requires you to be physically located in Ohio at the time of your telehealth session. You can let us know your location at the start of each visit. If you're temporarily out of state, we'll reschedule or convert that visit to in-person.

What does a telehealth session actually look like?

A telehealth session for couples counseling runs the same length and follows the same evidence-based approach as an in-person visit. You join from a private space on a phone, tablet, or computer with a stable internet connection. Bring headphones if you can — they help with privacy and audio clarity. Your therapist will start with the same check-in, agenda, and skill work you'd get in the office.

What if my internet drops or the video freezes?

If the connection fails for more than a minute or two, we'll switch to a phone call to finish the session. We'll also confirm a backup phone number with you at the start of every telehealth visit so reconnecting is fast and doesn't interrupt your care.

Can I switch between telehealth and in-person?

Yes — you can switch formats at any time as long as you remain located in Ohio for telehealth visits. Many clients mix the two depending on schedule, weather, or how they're feeling that week.

Is telehealth covered by insurance the same way as in-person?

Most major Ohio insurance plans now cover telehealth at the same rate as in-person visits, but coverage rules and place-of-service modifiers can vary by plan. See our Insurance & Fees page for current details, and we'll verify your specific benefits before your first session.
