EMDR-informed therapy for memories that won't quiet down.

Structured, paced trauma work for PTSD, single-incident trauma, and complex/relational trauma — on your nervous system's timeline.

Gentle rippling water reflecting morning light — EMDR-informed trauma therapy

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) helps the brain finish processing memories that got stuck. The goal isn't to forget what happened — it's to remember it without your body reacting like it's happening again.

What treatment looks like

We spend real time on phase 1–2 work — history, goals, and building the internal resources you'll lean on during reprocessing. We do not rush into trauma material. When you're ready, sessions follow the standard EMDR protocol with bilateral stimulation (eye movements, taps, or tones, including options that translate to telehealth).

EMDR is not a fit for every client or every week. We'll be honest about when a different approach (skills work, somatic stabilization, or talk-based trauma therapy) is the better next step.

Telehealth FAQ

Answers to the most common questions about meeting for EMDR therapy by secure video — consent, privacy, and what an actual session looks like.

Is the video platform actually private and HIPAA-compliant?

We use a HIPAA-compliant video platform under a signed Business Associate Agreement (BAA). Sessions are encrypted end-to-end in transit, are not recorded, and are not used to train any AI model. The video link itself is one-time and tied only to your visit — never embedded in calendar invites, never sent by SMS or social media.

Do I have to be in Ohio for a telehealth visit?

Yes. Ohio licensure requires you to be physically located in Ohio at the time of your telehealth session. You can let us know your location at the start of each visit. If you're temporarily out of state, we'll reschedule or convert that visit to in-person.

What does a telehealth session actually look like?

A telehealth session for EMDR therapy runs the same length and follows the same evidence-based approach as an in-person visit. You join from a private space on a phone, tablet, or computer with a stable internet connection. Bring headphones if you can — they help with privacy and audio clarity. Your therapist will start with the same check-in, agenda, and skill work you'd get in the office.

What if my internet drops or the video freezes?

If the connection fails for more than a minute or two, we'll switch to a phone call to finish the session. We'll also confirm a backup phone number with you at the start of every telehealth visit so reconnecting is fast and doesn't interrupt your care.

Can I switch between telehealth and in-person?

Yes — you can switch formats at any time as long as you remain located in Ohio for telehealth visits. Many clients mix the two depending on schedule, weather, or how they're feeling that week.

Is telehealth covered by insurance the same way as in-person?

Most major Ohio insurance plans now cover telehealth at the same rate as in-person visits, but coverage rules and place-of-service modifiers can vary by plan. See our Insurance & Fees page for current details, and we'll verify your specific benefits before your first session.
